The South Dakota House has voted to continue a lease with the Black Hills Playhouse and give it two years to raise money to fix up the place.
The Playhouse operates on state land in Custer State Park.
A lease with the state expired last year and the state has opposed renewing it without updates to a half dozen buildings and the sewage system.
Supporters in the house called it "do or die" time for the theater, which has operated in the park for 64 years.
The bill passed earlier in the senate but now returns there so senators can consider changes made by house members.
