It's census time, but why is it so important to fill out the information?
Local census organizers say one of the reasons is because there are $400 billion in federal funds divided up each year, and given to communities based upon the amount of people they count.
You should start receiving a form in the mail, or in some places an actual census person will be taking forms door to door. Those with the census say the constitution requires a count once every ten years.
But they say it's a little different this time around.
Max Wetz of the US Census says, "This is the time when we are doing that count, it's different this time than it has been in the past, everyone will receive a short form, it's about ten questions long and takes about ten minutes for the average household to complete."
Wetz says the $400 billion that's divided up each year makes a huge impact in the community, so they want to make sure they're getting a complete count.
