Republican South Dakota Senator John Thune says the democrats are trying to “jam” the healthcare bill through in defiance of what he believes is the will of the American people.
Thune says it's a waiting game, but thinks pushing the bill through like this a big mistake.
"I think whenever you have a piece of legislation that has this kind of consequence and this kind of impact it stands to have something that would pass with some bi-partisan support. It was the case with social security reform Medicare reform those pieces of legislation have passed with 70 or more votes," says Thune.
Thune says Americans don't want the healthcare bill passed by one party.
He says the substance of the bill means higher taxes and Medicare cuts for most.
