For many businesses 2009 was a down year, but not at the Rapid City Public Library.
The number of items checked out or accessed online increased nearly 20 percent and the library had 1 million circulations last year.
It's the first time the organization had that many items checked out in a single year.
“It's astonishing to know the use of our physical buildings, both the downtown and north location, is continuing to increase, even though more and more people are accessing their library online," says Terri Davis Assistant Director of RCPL.
The library continues to expand its services from traditional books and items for check out and its online resources.
