With all the hills in our area, cell phone reception in the Black Hills can be notoriously bad, but one company is spending millions of dollars to enhance coverage.
Many Verizon Wireless towers have recently been upgraded.
The phone company spent about $21 million last year adding towers, and upgrading existing ones.
Clint Courtney, a Verizon retail store manager, said, “It increases the capacity of the amount of people we can have on our towers which is going to result in fewer dropped calls and better coverage."
Verizon experts say to make sure you're phone is taking full advantage of the new towers you should frequently update your roaming capabilities, dial star 228, and select option 2.
