President Barack Obama has appointed South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds to a newly created Council of Governors. Rounds met with the president and other governors earlier this week.
Members of the Council of Governors will meet occasionally to offer views and advice on military and homeland defense matters.
Rounds is one of 10 people on the council, which has an equal mix of republicans and democrats.
