Since the ice storm shut down Eagle Butte and parts of the Cheyenne River Reservation, people from all over have stepped up to help out.
Wednesday the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians out of Highland California donated $100,000 to the Black Hills Red Cross.
This money will go toward current and future assistance to the reservation.
And a Red Cross representative from California says this is a great example of neighbors helping neighbors.
Yevette Ramos, of the California Red Cross, said, “When we can bring a very influential tribe in my backyard to see the need thousands of miles away and make a difference, it just shows that the Red Cross can do whatever we need to do in a time of need.”
The San Manuel tribe donated a total of $220,000 to different organizations in South Dakota.
