Stock Show Still Going Strong

We've just about hit the halfway mark of this year’s Stock Show and Rodeo.  But the action hasn't slowed down.

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, teams competed for their shot at the ranch rodeo finals.  This event is different from the other rodeo events because like its title, this competition shows what real cowboys do all year.

Ranch Rodeo Co-Producer Andy Storms says, "It's events they do during the course of a day on their ranch except for the trailer race.  It's a little bit wilder.  It’s a great event."

So far, this year's stock show has had its up's and down's.  The Civic Center manager says next weekend is really going to make or break this year's stock show.

And to help keep crowds up and to entice some locals to stop by Wednesday, which is typically the slowest day, there will be food and drink deals as well as prime parking spots.

Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Manager Brian Malikse says, "It's the day of the week when everything is transition.  It's the slowest.  It gives you an opportunity to get down here.  Especially for the local folks who come here and say, 'Well boy, it's always so busy.'  Wednesday is a little different.  There is good parking up close; you don't have to walk very far.  You can come in and see everything going on and you can park real close to the building."

If you haven't had a chance to make it to the stock show yet this year, Wednesday is targeting a specific crowd.  Wednesday is Senior Day at the stock show.  There will be lunch specials and other deals.

Three Dog Night is performing at the stock show Wednesday night.  Tickets are still available.
