Power outages in the wake of storms that brought ice, snow and strong winds have dropped to about 4,000 rural electric customers in the Dakotas.
Last weekend's ice storm knocked out power to nearly 8,000.
The most recent estimates Thursday afternoon showed about 1,700 households without power in North Dakota, and about 2,500 in South Dakota.
Although, much of the Black Hills has not been severely affected by this last storm, cold weather continued to blanket the two states Thursday with the combination of low temperatures and wind making it feel as cold as 35 degrees below zero overnight.
