Democratic Representative Stephanie Herseth Sandlin says she agrees with President Obama that getting spending under control is critical.
She says she supports Obama's proposed spending freeze, but that even more must be done.
Democratic Senator Tim Johnson says Obama’s address gave hope to hardworking families.
He says he agrees with Obama that jobs must be a focus this year.
Republican Senator John Thune says President Obama lived up to his reputation as a great orator with his State of the Union Speech, but the South Dakota Republican says Americans need a "clear plan" from the president, not rhetoric.
Thune says Republicans will work with Obama and Democrats in Congress, as long as they are willing to "trade rhetoric for action."
