Airport Mayhem

After shutting down Christmas day, Rapid City Regional Airport re-opened at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning, but high winds and low visibility canceled or delayed flights throughout the day.

Several flights going to Chicago, Denver, and Minneapolis were canceled.

Airport crews spent 26 hours of continuous snow removal operations to dig out from the winter storm.

The airport did warn passengers to expect delays and possible cancellations, but some travelers were still waiting around the airport hoping to make their flights.

South Dakota resident, Lori Potter, said "It's been kind of fun, a roller-coaster actually, yeah it has been."

Travelers are encouraged to check with their airline and local road reports before traveling to the airport.
