RC Salutes Veterans with a Parade

People lined the streets of downtown Rapid City Wednesday to honor our veterans.

The Annual Veterans Day Parade went off without a hitch along Main and Saint Joe Streets at 11:00 a.m.  Children waved American flags as veterans marched and drove along the parade route.  The parade featured active duty troops, retired veterans, and groups that support them.  And along the way people of all ages were there to honor those who fought and are still fighting for our freedom.

Kaleb, who is 11 years old, says, "Just to support our troops and just to help them to show that we care and we like what they are doing."

A retired Air Force veteran says, "It really thrills me to see this number people out, because in the past it's never been used, people didn't recognize it all that much.  In the last few years it's really accelerated and it really makes me feel good in the heart."

Applebee’s gave free lunch to veterans.  The Golden Corral is giving free meals to veterans on Monday.
