SDSM&T Honors its Veterans

Even though Veterans’ Day is Wednesday the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology recognized its veterans on Tuesday.

The school celebrated by retiring its service flag.  ROTC members, community members, and veterans gathered to watch the flag come down.

The service flag symbolizes service men and women who are currently deployed.  So for active duty students at the school seeing the flag come down is very meaningful.

Logan Veath is an assistant professor and student and says, "It means we have all of our soldiers here at SDSM&T back home.  The blue star signifies how many soldiers we have out and right now we don't have any which is a good thing."

School officials say while they are pleased to take the flag down, it will be going back up in Dec. since one of the students has a pending deployment.
