The St. Thomas More football team finds itself in a familiar position heading into the third round of the playoffs this weekend.
For the sixth year in a row, the Cavaliers will play in the state semi-finals for a chance to return to the Dakota Dome in Vermillion.
Saturday afternoon, St. Thomas more will host Dakota Valley at O'Harra stadium.
The winner will play either Milbank or Todd County in the finals next Thursday.
Earlier this week, we caught up with St. Thomas More head coach Wayne Sullivan and asked him about the keys to Saturday's game.
“We're going to have to sustain drives like we did against Belle on Monday. Keep the ball on the ground, play action pass. Making sure that defensively we're fundamentally sound. Wrap up and tackle this young man. He reminds a lot of Francois Barnaud who we just played. A very, very tough runner who can break a tackle at any time. So we're going to have to be fundamentally sound, eliminate turnovers, and of course our special teams. We're going to have to make sure that every facet of the game that we execute,” said Barnaud.
Once again, St. Thomas more will entertain Dakota Valley tomorrow at O'Harra stadium. Kick-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
Also, Milbank will take Todd County in the other class 11-A playoff game.
