The Sturgis City Council will again discuss plans to annex 3,000 acres of land east of Sturgis during its Monday meeting.

In April, Meade County commissioners rejected the city's request for annexation of the unplotted and agricultural land.

Commissioners say that city leaders need to address some of the concerns of landowners who opposed annexation for the request to be reconsidered.

Several landowners have said they fear the move would increase their taxes and end their agricultural operations.

The mayor says that some Sturgis Motorcycle Rally patrons use the area east of town and have an impact on Sturgis, but the city doesn't receive any money to provide police and fire services.
