A Buffalo Gap man is the first person to officially announce
he's running for governor in 2010.
Ken Knuppe, the former president of the South Dakota Stock
Growers Association, officially kicked off his gubernatorial campaign
Thursday. He hopes to get the Republican
nomination for the 2010 governor race.
Part of his platform will be to return the government to the people.
Ken Knuppe, the Republican Candidate for Governor, says,
"With what has been happening with the economy around the country and
around the world, we are in for very challenging times ahead. Being fiscally
conservative, and decreasing the size of the government needs to be the norm,
not the exception. The alternative is increase taxes, and we can't afford
that."
Brookings Mayor Scott Munsterman and State Senator Dave
Knudson, have already filed their campaign paper work, but Republican
Lieutenant Governor Dennis Daugaard says he will run. So far, no Democrats have officially
announced running for the office.
