The Humane Society of the Black Hills is way too full and the shelter is desperately looking for families to give the animals a real home, not just a cage.

Right now, the shelter is completely full of cats and dogs.  The animals make great pets, so if you're thinking about getting a pet, now's the time to adopt.

The Humane Society does not want to euthanize, but when the shelter runs out of space, the harsh reality is animals get put down.

If you can't adopt, maybe being a foster pet parent is a way you can help the overcrowding problem.

Faith Makepace with the Humane Society of the Black Hills says, "You take the animal in for a predetermined amount of time.  What's really good about that is we can help with the food and supplies that you need and it helps socialize the animal.  We get to learn things about the animal, like if it's good with other animals and kids."

Besides fostering, if you can't adopt you can always volunteer to walk dogs, donate money or supplies like cat or dog food.
