Montana groups want to donate livestock to SD
Assistance might be coming for West River ranchers in the form of donated livestock.
Groups in Montana are asking ranchers across the region to step up and help South Dakota producers hit hard by the snowstorm, specifically by donating production cattle and sheep.
The group "Citizens for Balanced Use" have reached out to Montana, Wyoming and Idaho ranchers wanting to help those in South Dakota rebuild their herds.
The idea came from a small community up in Montana, keen on bringing those affected by the tragedy back onto their feet.
Kerry White is a board member with Citizens for Balanced Use and spoke with NewsCenter1 via telephone Saturday.
<There was a ranch up here by the name of Bar Quarter Circle and they actually contacted us too and they came up with this idea of trying to get together an inventory of production cattle to try to get down to South Dakota to help out those farmers and ranchers down there," White said.
