Deadwood Fire Dept. Request
With the winter weather this week, and the winter season looming, the Deadwood Volunteer Fire Department asks residents to please locate their neighborhood fire hydrants – and clear the snow away from them. If there’s a fire and the hydrants aren’t clear, firefighters spend valuable time digging it out; time that could be spent fighting a fire that is threatening your home. Fire spreads quickly, and even a few minutes can make a major difference in saving a structure.
So please make sure the hydrants in your neighborhood are readily accessible. This small act could mean the difference in saving your home.
Also, after storms and other disasters, some residents would like to be more involved in a community service like firefighting. The Deadwood Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking additional firefighters and encourages any area residents who are interested in joining the Fire Department to contact the Fire Hall at (605) 578-1212 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
