Cavaliers Prepare to Host the Golddiggers
The St Thomas More football team made a huge statement last Friday night.
The Cavaliers travelled to the southern hills and defeated then fifth ranked Hot Springs, 35-15.
The Cavs are now 2-0 on the young season and have the potential to win their eighth Black Hills Conference title.
St. Thomas More has cruised through its first two games, beating Spearfish and Hot Springs by a combined score of 70-22.
The Cavaliers will host Lead-Deadwood on Friday night.
STM will be without running back Newt Johnson again this week.
Johnson injured his knee in the game against Spearfish, despite rushing for 211 yards and three touchdowns.
The Golddiggers, who are 1-1 on the season, have a new head coach this year in Ryan Gatch.
STM head coach Wayne Sullivan says, “With their new coach Gatch who took over the program in Lead. I've known the coach for a while and he's going to have them ready. They're going to be very fired up. They're going to be very aggressive and they're going to execute well. They're going into their game as well just like we are. So I know he's going to have them in the right spots and they're going to fly to the ball. I know it's going to be a very hard hitting game on Friday night.”
