Thomas Patrick is NewsCenter1's weekend Meteorologist and weekday Reporter. Thomas is originally from the 'smallish' town of Hartland, Wisconsin (near Milwaukee), but went to school at Valparaiso University in Indiana where he studied Meteorology with a minor in TV/Radio/Digital Media. Thomas is a thoroughbred Wisconsinite. He is a 100% Cheesehead and proud of it.
Thomas is a self proclaimed weather-nerd. Since he was 5 years old, (when he would color the high temperature maps on blank United States maps), he knew he loved weather and pursued this career. He is very happy to have landed in the Black Hills, where the scenery is endless.
At school, he was an active member of many student lead groups in both the Meteorologist and Communications departments. On the weather side of things, Thomas was part of AMS (American Meteorological Society) Northwest Indiana chapter and VUSIT (Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team). Yes, the latter is a storm chasing group.
After completing three internships at school, he was at WLUM –FM102/1 in Milwaukee, where he was a production intern for the Kramp & Adler morning show. Then, he took his talents to television with weather internships at WITI – FOX6 Milwaukee and WMAQ – NBC5 Chicago.
Among other things, Thomas swam all 4 years at Valpo and loves alternative rock music, and also worked in radio as a DJ in college. You can find Thomas on Facebook at: facebook.com/ThomasPatrickMeteorologist and twitter at @ThomasPatrickWX.
