Fire at Landfill
An early response difference when fighting helped Fire Firefighters gain col of this fire at the landfill early Wednesday morning, but rather than extinguish it, RCFD had to smoke this fire out is contining to spray water on the fire to prevent any further expansion, but the winds are against them in a worst case scenario.
The fire started on the south end of the landfill, and those embers are getting pushed Northtoward more potential fuels.
And at the same time, if the wind were to shift, then the smoke will be driven over the roads, creating immediate visibility issues for drivers.
Fire crews said that the stability of the atmosphere makes a big difference when they are fighting a fire. When you have more stability, or even atemperature inversion that smog can get contained to the lowest layer of the atmosphere. But when you have an unstable atmosphere then the smog can disperse into the air. So the weather makes a big difference when fighting a fire.
The cause of that fire is still under investigation.. We will bring you the latest information as we find out more.
