"A Mile In Her Shoes" walk
Working Against Violence continues to support several organizations and their next is this upcoming Saturday.
This weekends event features men "walking a mile in her shoes" …literally. The tongue-in-cheek event is a fun way to have men put on a pair of ruby red high heels and walk a mile to raise money for WAVI. WAVI is also sponsoring a Peace Pro-Motion 5K the same day at 10am, which will be followed up by the mile in her shoes at noon. WAVI says it's not hard to get men to participate in this all around entertaining event.
Mallory Heutzenroeder, development director of WAVI says, "Honestly they had so much fun. There was a few of them that need a little corresting to get up there, but once they had the shoes on and realized how much fun everyone was having. We did a walk off, we had a best strut contest, we had a do the twist contest. We really wanted to make it more of an event where you can come and have a really good time. And still know you're supporting a really good cause."
There is no minimum donation required to walk. WAVI has 100 pairs of red high heels and anyone willing to walk at the last second is more than welcome to show up.
