5K MS Walk
Rapid City is one of 33 cities in 5 mid-western states to host an MS walk Saturday morning.
Multiple Sclerosis is an incurable disease affecting over 2.1 million people worldwide.
Symptoms range from numbness to blindness and paralysis.
Most commonly, individuals lose their ability to walk on their own.
That's why this event, in which over 200 people either with MS or who know a loved one who has MS walked for a cure in the morning on the Club For Boys parking lot.
Jan McArthur with MS Love Squad says, "My daughter has MS. She was diagnosed on September 11th, 2001. And that was the day of the Twin Towers. So, that was a very tough day. We are with our daughter, and she comes up from San Antonio. And our family has walked every year since she was diagnosed.”
Jan and the MS Love Squad raised over $3,000 for this walk alone, and over the lifetime of their group, they've raised over $40,000.
Proceeds go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Saturday’s walk is hoping to raise $22,500.
