The popular Rapid City Trolley rides are back and better than ever this year. Starting Saturday night, the trolley will add a new route to its schedule.
It will take people from hotels on north La Crosse Street to the downtown area. The trolley will also make four stops along Main Street.
Bob Hodet, is the vice president of the Hospitality Association says there are about 1,700 hotel rooms along North La Crosse Street.
He says they're hoping the extra route will bring somewhere between 200-400 more people downtown each night. "It's going to open up the whole downtown area. There will be a lot more activity. There will be a lot more advantage for people to see what is downtown and to come back to Rapid again and enjoy it. They'll know what we have here to offer them as a good tourist place to visit."
The trolley will run from about 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Individual round trip tickets are $2. A four person family round trip ticket is $5.
