Friday night many people are coming together for a benefit dinner to help a Rapid City child who is fighting for his life.

Two year old Liam Kenrick has been at Sanford Medical in Sioux Falls since the beginning of January battling bacterial meningitis.

His mom, Sandy, is a teacher in Rapid City and his father is a deputy sheriff.

Many of Sandy’s co-workers set up the benefit dinner to help raise money for the family.

Beth Bury, 3-4th Grade Teacher, Wilson Elementary, says, “He’s been there for 3 weeks and is looking at several more weeks of recovery, and they are not sure if he will be able to see or hear, so it could be months of long term hospitalization were hoping to raise as much money as we can."

The dinner is taking place at Canyon Lake Methodist Church off of Canyon Lake Drive until 7:00.

Any donations are appreciated and gift baskets will be raffled off at dinner.
