400 Airmen Return Home

Families and friends waited anxiously for the return of their loved ones who have been deployed since the summer of 2011.

For Kymric Walker he was not only reuniting with his daughter and his wife but meeting his son for the first time.

Sr. Airman Kymric Walker says, "It's amazing you think being away for so long as seeing my kid as soon I got home."  And he said missing that special moment was extremely difficult.  Walker's wife Rachael says, "It was hard, he played it cool when I was on Skype and he said he cried after."

And a reunion like the Walkers shows what this one percent give up for the country.

"Teamwork at us best all those guys have so much to sacrifice as much as I do really."

34th Bomb Wing Commander Lt. Colonel John Martin says, “It was a fantastic deployment, we flew more sorties than any other previous B1 deployment, 640, and shattered the record, I could not be more proud of this team."

One third of the airmen deployed were on their first deployment and completed 98 percent of their missions successfully.

This group of 400 airmen performed many tasks involving air presence, precision strike, surveillance and support for military objectives in the region.
