A former White House bomb-sniffing dog is on the loose in southeast Michigan after somehow getting off its leash at Detroit's Metro Airport.
The dog, Arco, got away Monday night while he was being taken out for a bathroom break after landing on a Continental flight from Arizona.
An officer was bit in the process of trying to recapture Arco.A search is under way in the Romulus area.
Police said anyone who sees the dog should not approach it.
"The dog is afraid. The dog is in an area where it's not familiar, around people it has never seen before," said Romulus Police Capt. John Leacher.
Arco had served for six years before he attacked and killed a neighborhood cat in Virginia. He was put up for adoption and was on his way to a new home in Ohio.
