Friday marks the beginning of a three day "Spring National Adoption Weekend." Petsmart is teaming up with Humane Society of the Black Hills to find dozens of dogs and cats a new home.
Four-year-old Al is barking for a little attention.
Decan, Six, and Dozer are three cute pit bull/lab puppies wishing for a new place to call home.
And who can resist the dark eyes of 11-month-old Coal?
These are just some of the dogs waiting to escape their cages and into the loving arms of a new companion.
Petsmart Store Manager Rick Wiese says, "Sometimes you're thinking about maybe I should get a kitty or maybe I should get a dog, but until you see that right dog, you just don't know."
Petsmart and the Humane Society of the Black Hills are teaming together to get these dogs and more than 13,000 of their friends nation wide adopted to good homes this weekend.
Stephanie Overby with the Humane Society says, "We’re going to have a nice mix of dogs, something for everyone. Little dogs, big dogs, lots of great labs. We just have everything at the shelter right now, so we're going to be taking lots of different dogs right now."
If you take Sissy or Whip-It, Petsmart will also give you a free bag of dog or cat food and a booklet of coupons.
"Very nice coupon books. $100 and some dollars in savings if you use the coupons. And on top of that, every pet parent that adopts a pet from the Humane Society, Petsmart charities donates an additional $10 to the Humane Society for every pet adopted through Petsmart."
So not only are you helping an organization that takes in thousands of pets a year, you're helping to give one very special pet a new family.
Once again the adoption event will take place Friday night through Sunday at Petsmart.
